Geibel Catholic High School’s football team lost its season opener to Frazier, 81-0.
That’s right, 81-0. That was the score at halftime. The third and fourth quarters were abbreviated to one minute each.
That’s embarrassing to everyone involved. Zero fun for Geibel. Zero fun for Frazier.
Frazier had 27 points after just one offensive play: A rushing touchdown was followed by two safeties. Both free kicks got returned for TDs. Frazier botched the snap on both extra points, but turned the broken plays into two-point conversions.
That’s not a football game. That’s a clown act.
Things won’t get better moving forward. Geibel has just 16 players. One-third of those are freshmen. Injuries took Geibel down to 13 players for the “second half.”
No good comes from games like that. They’re nothing more than a waste of time and a source of potential injury.
Geibel needs to fold its football program. No good can come from this. Don’t confuse stupidity with determination.
