The Pirates need to summon Andrew Lambo from AAA and give him a shot in right field. LAMBO FIELD, GET IT? HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW!
Lambo hit two home runs for Indianapolis last night. The 24-year-old has split the season between Indy and Class AA Altoona, crushing 31 HR total.
Lambo can’t be worse than what the Pirates have in right field.
Lambo, in fact, might be a lot better.
The Pirates need to stray from the blueprint and take a chance.
You don’t want to trade a prospect like Jameson Taillon or Gregory Polanco? Fine.
You don’t want to make a deal that shuffles your big-league roster? Fine.
But giving Lambo an opportunity is an easy chance to take.
You risk nothing. You lose nothing. Maybe you solve a major problem.
Pirates management seems a bit hesitant. The team hasn’t been this close in years. Perhaps GM Neal Huntington and his staff don’t know what to do.
But, given the situation in right field, calling up Lambo is a no-brainer.
What’s the worst that can happen?
Travis Snider, that’s what.
