Should the Steelers draft Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o if he’s there when they pick 17th in the first round of this year’s NFL draft?

Te’o will almost certainly be available. Most mock drafts have him going no higher than the teens, and his likely mental instability as revealed by the fake dead girlfriend hoax may cause Te’o to drop a bit.

Te’o is, however, a very good inside linebacker, and the Steelers could use a very good inside linebacker. Te'o has the football smarts the Steelers covet.

But if you draft Te’o, you also draft a non-stop three-ring circus that won’t go away anytime soon. You might also be drafting a social misfit, someone with multiple neuroses, or (best case scenario) someone who’s incredibly naïve.

You might also be drafting a gay man, because this has BEARD written all over it.
