Everyone raves about Heart's rendition of "Stairway to Heaven" at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, but...IT WAS SHORTENED BY TWO VERSES. That's like editing the Bible. A big part of the song's appeal is the ethereal aura created by the story told. When you tell an incomplete version of that story, "Stairway" is damaged. Great performance. Bad decision.

Other songs performed got the same treatment. Foo Fighters did just one verse of "Rock and Roll." Lenny Kravitz' version of "Whole Lotta Love" got chopped way down. It was fun to see President Obama sing along with the chorus, though.
