Day 38 of the NHL lockout, and the players and owners AREN'T EVEN TALKING.
NHLPA boss Don Fehr doesn't want to settle. Fehr wants to DUMP THE CAP. Wait and see.
A few days ago, the players were moving toward 50-50. Now, the word is they WANT MORE. Whenever things appears to be close, Fehr dips, ducks and dodges.
Boston's David Krejci says NHL commissioner Gary Bettman treats the players like "animals." Krejci makes $5.25m per year. Are there any vacant cages at that zoo? It is IMPOSSIBLE to be treated like an animal when you make $5.25m per year. IMPOSSIBLE.
A Penguins player recently told a mutual acquaintance that if worse comes to worst, "We'll all go play in Russia. That will be hockey's big league." NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
You'd play in inferior facilities. You wouldn't make nearly as much. You'd be in RUSSIA. Have fun TREMBLING every time you get on an airplane. Do your children speak Sputnik?
Anyway, they WOULDN'T WANT ALL OF YOU. The KHL won't ditch all those affordable homeboys.
Talk of a mass defection to Russia is further proof that the NHLPA isn't really a union. Every NHLer that goes to Russia puts a KHL player out of work. That's not what union members do.
